OSWEGO, NY- It’s getting to be NEWHL crunch time for the Oswego State Lakers, and the Lakers picked up an important 3 points against the Morrisville Mustangs on Saturday night.

The Lakers jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 11:28 in the first period. Lizzie Burke scored her second goal and third point of the season with an assist from Morgan Shines. The Lakers would hold the Mustangs to a goose egg on the scoreboard until Alana McDonald scored an unassisted goal just 39 seconds into the third period. The Lakers held the tie until a late-game power play for the Lakers allowed Simone Bednarik to score her fourth goal and eighth point on the season. Chyne Kennedy picked up the assist on the game-winning goal.

Joanna Hiebert made thirteen saves for the Lakers in net after facing fourteen shots. Morrisville net-minder Emma Plett made 51 saves in net for the Mustangs in a valiant effort to score a win or tie for the Mustangs.

The Lakers face SUNY Canton on Friday afternoon at 3:00pm for the first of three straight conference matchup with the Roos. WNYO will have coverage of the game over on Stream 2.
