OSWEGO, NY – The No.13 Oswego State Lakers came up short against the Geneseo Ice Knights in the Ira. S. Wilson Ice Arena on Saturday night. The Lakers played Geneseo tight in the first twenty minutes, but a strong second period for Geneseo propelled them to a 6-1 championship victory.
The Lakers’ only goal came from Connor Smart with Travis Broughman and Connor Sleeth picking up assists. Geneseo’s 6-goal performance was backed up by an outstanding night from Matt Petizian. Petizian, who was snubbed from all three SUNYAC All-Conference teams, had a dominating night between the pipes. Petizian made 23 saves, many of them in spectacular fashion.
The Knights went 2/4 on the power play, while the Lakers went 0/3. Geneseo moves on to the NCAA Tournament that will take place over the next few weeks.
