OSWEGO, NY-The Oswego State Lakers arguably face the most consequential weekend of their season on Friday and Saturday. The Lakers, who currently sit at 2-2-1, move into a pivotal stretch of games against SUNY Brockport and SUNY Geneseo.

Brockport

Their weekend starts off on the road in Brockport, as they face the Brockport Golden Eagles on Friday night. The Eagles were ranked just outside the top 15 in the USCHO.com poll that came out on Monday. Brockport received 24 votes in that poll, while Oswego received 2 votes in that poll. Brockport is undefeated in regular season play, taking a 7-3 win over Plattsburgh in their most recent game. Oswego will look to take a hard-fought win on Friday night against Brockport. A win for Oswego would have many positives; another win in the SUNYAC, more votes in the poll, and improved standing in the NCAA Pairwise rankings.

Geneseo

Saturday, the Lakers come back to the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Center to face off against the number one team in the nation. The Geneseo Knights are also undefeated in regular season play, starting their season off 5-0. They faced their toughest test against Plattsburgh, taking a 3-2 win that featured late pressure from the Cardinals. Other than the Plattsburgh game, the Knights have won all of their games by a score difference of 3 or more. The Lakers have faced multiple top 10 teams this year, namely in the #2 Utica

Last Week: Oswego Takes Teal Game Win over Cortland

Both teams also face the Cortland Red Dragons this weekend. Oswego faced them last weekend in the annual Teal Game in honor of the late Mary Gosek. The Lakers beat the Red Dragons 2-1, with goals coming from Connor Sleeth and Troy Robillard to put Oswego up and over the Red Dragons. The Red Dragons went on to upset the #6 ranked Hobart Statesmen last Saturday 2-1, making it an interesting matchup for both Brockport and Geneseo, who look to retain their respective spots in the SUNYAC and nationwide. Oswego, meanwhile, looks to get two standout wins over the weekend that would certainly assert the strength of the Lakers across the conference, pairwise, and polls.

Tune In!

Puck drop in Brockport will be at 7:00pm on Friday, November 19th. Countdown to Faceoff kicks off at 6:00pm, with a full hour of analysis and all of the information you need to get ready for the first game of the weekend. Puck drop against Geneseo will be at 7:00pm right here in Oswego, with Countdown to Faceoff starting at 6:00pm as Oswego prepares for one of the biggest games of their season.
