ANGOLA, IN- It was a successful weekend for the Oswego State women’s hockey team.
The Lakers wrapped up their season-opening trip to the Midwest with another 2-1 win, this time over Trine University. It was a comeback effort for the Lakers. Oswego was down 0-1 to Trine in the first period off of a power play. Trine’s lone goal of the game was scored by Brandi Wilson at 10:44 in the period.
In the second period, Oswego evened up the score. Amanda Zenstein scored off a Philomena Teggart assist at 13:47 in the period. The game remained tied until the third, when Simone Bednarik set up Megan Teachout to score 12 minutes into play. The score held, and the Lakers skated off the ice going 2-0 to start their season.
NEWHL play starts next week for the Lakers, who will face Buffalo State on November 6th for a matinee game at 3:00pm. They play SUNY Potsdam on Sunday, November 7th, also at 3:00pm. WNYO will have coverage of those games and the men’s team as they head to the North Country to start SUNYAC play.
